Dear Friends and Family,
15 years ago, I started Tsubo with my dear friend and mentor Jay as a place for us to service our family of clients and promote a lifestyle of beauty that starts from within. We imagined a wellness based salon that could provide an integrative solution to physical health and mental well being for a conscious community of like minded practitioners of all varieties.
Over the years, the salon organically adapted and evolved to meet the changing needs of our community and our family. Although we only provided wellness practices for the first few years, we attracted a team of like minded hairdressers that prioritized sustainability, education, growth and wellness. We took pride in choosing to share our beautiful salon space only with hairstylists that believed in integrity above all, fairness in pricing, a balanced approach to life and making our customers part of our family. Our family, our clients, our community have supported us through the toughest of times including the recession of 2008 and the closing of non-essential businesses during the first wave of the Covid-19 pandemic. With the help of great clients and an extremely fair landlord at Hubbard Street Lofts, we managed to come out of impossible financial instability several times. |
Unfortunately, this year and the surprises that came our way were too much for our tight budget to overcome. After months of discussion and brainstorming new strategies, I have made the decision to let Tsubo have a peaceful end of a terrific era.
But don’t worry! There is an exciting new chapter beginning for the Tsubo family and Team Tsubo! As of November 1st, Christina Crosthwaite, aka Xtina Hair Design will take over ownership and begin the new era known as Salon Hex. Same location, same team and same commitment to staying in touch with integrity and overall well being of our planet and each of us that walk through the door. You’ll notice a few aesthetic changes here and there over time, but the amazing vibe we’ve created over the years is not going away and neither am I. I’m looking forward to offering any assistance to Xtina as she takes on the role of salon leader. In the few years we’ve worked together, I’ve come to trust her to be just the right person to carry the legacy that Jay and I created when we decided that there must be a better way to work than giving our freedom and money to corporate salon owners.
